Shanghai Masters: Zhou advances as Nishioka quits in first round

Chinese wildcard Zhou Yi moved into the second round of the Shanghai Masters when Japanese Nishioka Yoshihito retired at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Thursday.

Zhou, ranked No 446, trailed 2-4 when Nishioka, ranked No 59, pulled out after experiencing cramps in his legs.

The 19-year-old Chinese will face No 13 seed Frances Tiafoe next.
