Shanghai Masters: Zhang continues fine home run to beat Nakashima and make last 16

Chinese Zhizhen Zhang beat American Brandon Nakashima 7-6 (2), 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Stadium.

Zhang, ranked No 60, will play Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 16 seed, next.

The Chinese defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet (6-1, 6-2) and edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 28 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament.

Earlier in the tournament, Nakashima, ranked No 122, won against Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (6-1, 7-6 (3)) and Dane Holger Rune, the No 3 seed (6-0, 6-2).
