Shanghai Masters: Medvedev edges Arnaldi to reach last 16

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, edged out Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 29 seed, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Sunday night.
Medvedev, ranked No 5, will play the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 10 seed, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller next.
In the previous round of the Shanghai tournament, the Russian won against Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (7-5, 7-5).
Arnaldi, ranked No 36, edged out American qualifier Zachary Svajda (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-4) during the second round of the Shanghai tournament.
