Shanghai Masters: Humbert moves into quarter-finals with easy win over Wolf
The Frenchman will meet the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, in the next round
Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 32 seed, moved into the last eight of the Shanghai Masters by beating American J.J. Wolf 6-1, 6-2 at the Qi Zhong Stadium on Wednesday.
Humbert, ranked No 34 in the world, will face the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament, the Frenchman beat Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-4, 1-6, 6-2) and edged out Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-5).
Wolf, ranked No 51, won against Argentinian Pedro Cachin (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), No 15 seed Cameron Norrie (6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (4)) and Italian Matteo Arnaldi (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the week.
