Santiago: Ugo Carabelli beats fellow Argentine Coria in quarter-finals

Camilo Ugo Carabelli coasted past Federico Coria on Friday in Santiago. Ugo Carabelli will meet either Sebastian Baez or Damir Dzumhur in the last four.

Camilo Ugo Carabelli defeated Federico Coria 6-4, 6-3 to advance to semi-finals of the Chile Open at the Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Friday evening.

Ugo Carabelli, ranked No 69, will next face the winner of a match between Bosnian Damir Dzumhur and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 3 seed.

Earlier in the Santiago tournament, the Argentine edged out Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 7 seed (5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (9)) and Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3).

Coria, ranked No 136, advanced to the last eight by beating Chilean wild card Tomas Barrios Vera (6-1, 6-0) and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the second seed (7-6 (11), 4-6, 6-3).
