American Mackenzie McDonald won against Swiss Henri Laaksonen 6-0, 6-2 to move into the second round of the San Diego Open at the Barnes Tennis Centre on Wednesday evening.
McDonald, ranked No 84, will play second seed Jenson Brooksby next.
