Top seed Medvedev continues quest for first trophy of 2022, books spot in Libema Open semi-finals
Daniil Medvedev won against Ilya Ivashka 7-6 [8], 6-4 on Friday evening. He’ll face Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the next round
Russian Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, moved into the last four of the Dutch Open by winning against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 7-6 [8], 6-4 at the Autotron Rosmalen on Friday evening.
Medvedev, who is ranked No 2 in the world at the moment but who will rise to the top spot shortly, will play Frenchman Adrian Mannarino next.
He is still looking for his first trophy of 2022 – but will be heartened that he won his first senior title on a grass court last year, in Mallorca.
The Russian defeated French qualifier Gilles Simon (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
In the previous rounds of the Rosmalen, Ivashka, ranked No 49, beat American Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-7 [8], 6-1) and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (6-4, 6-2).
