Ruud races into Acapulco second round

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, beat Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Mexican Open at the Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco on Monday night.

Ruud came back from a break down early in the first set and ultimately cruised in one hour and 42 minutes.

The world No 5 awaits the winner of a match between Australian Aleksandar Vukic and Mexican wild card Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez.
