Rome Masters: Zverev ends Fritz run to reach semi-finals
Alexander Zverev beat Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday evening and will face Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 29 seed, in the next round
German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, beat American Taylor Fritz, the No 11 seed, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the last 4 of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Rome on Wednesday evening.
Zverev, ranked No 5, will face Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 29 seed, next.
The German won against Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-0, 6-4), Italian Luciano Darderi (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Portuguese Nuno Borges (6-2, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Italian Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Fritz, ranked No 13, defeated Italian wildcard Fabio Fognini (6-3, 6-4), No 24 seed Sebastian Korda (6-3, 6-4) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-7 (11), 6-1).
