German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 21 seed, 6-4, 7-5 to win the Rome Masters title at the Foro Italico in Roma on Sunday evening.
Zverev, ranked No 5, defeated Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-0, 6-4), Italian Luciano Darderi (7-6 (3), 6-2), Portuguese Nuno Borges (6-2, 7-5), American Taylor Fritz, the No 11 seed (6-4, 6-3) and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 29 seed (1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Italian Open, Jarry, ranked No 24, beat Italian Matteo Arnaldi (6-2, 7-6 (6)), Italian wildcard Stefano Napolitano (6-2, 4-6, 6-4), French qualifier Alexandre Muller (7-5, 6-3), Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 6 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-4) and American Tommy Paul, the No 14 seed (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3).
