Rome Masters: Zhang through to last eight, faces Tabilo next

Chinese Zhizhen Zhang reached the last eight of the Rome Masters by beating Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro 7-6 (4), 6-3 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Tuesday.
Zhang, ranked No 56, will play Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the No 29 seed, next.
This is the second time in his career, after Madrid in 2023, that the Chinese player has advanced to the last eight in an ATP Masters 1000 event
Ahead of his victory, the Chinese won against Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan (6-2, 7-5), Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 19 seed (6-1, 6-3) and American Ben Shelton, the No 12 seed (6-2, 6-4).
Monteiro, ranked No 106, won against Frenchman Gael Monfils (6-2, 7-5), Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 32 seed (6-1, 6-3) and Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (6)) in the previous rounds of the Italian Open.
