Rome Masters: Tsitsipas sets up fourth-round clash against De Minaur
The Greek has won 10 of his 11 meetings on the ATP tour over De Minaur but the Aussie won their most recent clash
Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 6 seed, defeated No 27 seed Cameron Norrie 6-2, 7-6 (1) to advance to the last 16 of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico on Monday. This was the Greek’s 12th win in 14 matches on clay this season.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 8 in the world, will face Australian Alex de Minaur, the No 9 seed, next. The two-time Grand Slam runner-up has a 10-1 lead in head-to-head over De Minaur on the ATP Tour, though the Aussie did win their most recent clash in Acapulco earlier this year.
The Greek, who won the Monte-Carlo Masters last month, edged out German Jan-Lennard Struff (6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the tournament.
Earlier in the week, Norrie, ranked No 30, won against Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-3, 1-6, 6-3).
