Rome Masters: Medvedev beats Ruusuvuori to reach third round

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, won against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 6-2 to move into the third round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico on Sunday afternoon.

Medvedev, ranked No 3, will face Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, the No 31 seed, next.

This was Medvedev’s first win in Rome in his fourth appearance at the tournament, meaning he has now got a match victory in all nine ATP Masters 1000 events.

In the previous round of the Italian Open, Ruusuvuori, ranked No 43, edged out Frenchman Ugo Humbert (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (6)).
