Rome Masters: Jarry reaches last eight

Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 21 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters by winning against French qualifier Alexandre Muller 7-5, 6-3 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Tuesday afternoon.
Jarry, ranked No 24, will play the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 6 seed, and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 9 seed, next.
It will be his first ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final on clay, his third overall, following Shanghai in 2023 and Miami this year.
The Chilean beat Italian Matteo Arnaldi (6-2, 7-6 (6)) and edged out Italian wildcard Stefano Napolitano (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Italian Open, Muller, ranked No 109, won against Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2), No 31 seed Arthur Fils (7-5, 6-3) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 4 seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-2).
