Rome Masters: Jarry advances to last 16
Nicolas Jarry edged out Stefano Napolitano 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 on Monday evening and will face French qualifier Alexandre Muller in the next round
Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 21 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Rome Masters by edging out Italian wildcard Stefano Napolitano 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Monday evening.
Jarry, ranked No 24, will play French qualifier Alexandre Muller next.
The Chilean defeated Italian Matteo Arnaldi (6-2, 7-6 (6)) in the previous round of the Italian Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Napolitano, ranked No 125, won against American lucky loser J.J. Wolf (6-2, 7-6 (3)) and Chinese lucky loser Juncheng Shang (6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-0).
