Hurkacz maintains form to reach last 16 in Rome

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 7 seed, followed up his win over Rafael Nadal by beating Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 25 seed, 7-6 (7), 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico in Rome on Monday evening.

Hurkacz, ranked No 9, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 17 seed, and Dane Holger Rune, the No 10 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Pole defeated Spaniard Rafael Nadal (6-1, 6-3).

Etcheverry, ranked No 28, beat Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the Italian Open.
