German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann won against American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the third round of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico on Sunday.
Hanfmann, ranked No 101, will face Italian Marco Cecchinato next.
Ahead of his victory, the German beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry (6-4, 6-4).
