Rome Masters: Coric books spot in last 16
Borna Coric beat Roberto Carballes Baena 7-6 (3), 6-1 on Monday. He’ll face the winner of the match between Hungarian qualifier Fabian Marozsan and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, in the next round
Croat Borna Coric, the No 15 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Rome Masters by beating Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 7-6 (3), 6-1 at the Foro Italico on Monday.
Coric, ranked No 16, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian qualifier Fabian Marozsan and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, next.
The Croat edged out Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (4-6, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (5)) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Carballes Baena, ranked No 51, won against Hugo Dellien (6-2, 6-3) and edged out No 20 seed Daniel Evans (7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-4).
