Rome Masters: Cerundolo reaches last 16
Francisco Cerundolo won against Gregoire Barrere 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday and will face the winner of the match between Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 8 seed, in the next round
Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 24 seed, won against Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Rome Masters at the Foro Italico on Sunday.
Cerundolo, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between Russian lucky loser Alexander Shevchenko and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Italian Open, the Argentinian beat Chinese Yibing Wu (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Barrere, ranked No 63, won against American Brandon Nakashima (6-3, 6-3) and edged out Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 11 seed (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the tournament.
