Paris Masters: Fifth seed Tsitsipas dashes French hopes with win over Moutet
The Greek served beautifully as he set up a meeting with either Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the No 14 seed, or American Tommy Paul
Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 5 seed, ended French hopes at the Paris Masters on Thursday as he beat qualifier Corentin Moutet 6-3, 7-6 (3) to advance to the quarter-finals at the Accor Arena.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 5, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the No 14 seed, and American Tommy Paul next.
The Greek dropped just three points on first serve and didn’t face a single point as he booked his place in the last eight.
The Greek won against Daniel Evans (6-3, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds, Moutet, ranked No 64, edged out Croat Borna Coric (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and No 12 seed Cameron Norrie (6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3)), a match that finished after 3am.
