Paris Masters: Tsitsipas gets the better of Auger-Aliassime to book spot in last 16
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 7-6 (4). He’ll face the winner of the match between Ugo Humbert and Alexander Zverev in the next round
Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 7-6 (4) to advance to the last 16 of Paris Masters at the Accor Arena.
The Greek world No 6 played cleaner, more controlled tennis than his Canadian opponent, who stayed true to his attacking style throughout.
However, there were too many unforced errors coming from the racquet of Auge-Aliassime today, as he struggled to find the same form that took him to the defence of his title in Basel last week.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 6, faces another tricky test in the next round as he will play the winner of the match between the in-form Frenchman Ugo Humbert and ever-resurgent Alexander Zverev, the No 10 seed, for a place in the quarter-finals.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 19, defeated German Jan-Lennard Struff (7-6 (3), 6-4) in the previous round of the Paris-Bercy tournament.
