Rio Open: Norrie moves into last four
Cameron Norrie won against Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 on Friday night and will face the winner of the match between Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca and Argentinian qualifier Mariano Navone in the next round
Second seed Cameron Norrie moved into the semi-finals of the Rio Open by defeating Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night.
“I was just really proud of how I fought hard.It was so humid and it was tough physically. I managed to break there in the end, so I’m proud of myself,” Norrie said post-match.
Norrie, ranked No 23, will face the winner of the match between Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca and Argentinian qualifier Mariano Navone next.
Cameron Norrie won against Hugo Dellien (6-3, 6-2) and Chilean Tomas Barrios Vera (6-1, 6-1) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Seyboth Wild, ranked No 82, edged out Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) and beat Spaniard Jaume Munar (6-2, 4-6, 6-3).
