Rio Open: Jarry reaches quarter-finals
Nicolas Jarry beat Pedro Martinez 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday night and will play the winner of the match between Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 6 seed, in the next round
Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez 6-2, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Rio Open at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday night.
Jarry, ranked No 139 and a semi-finalist at Rio in 2018, will play the winner of the match between Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Brazilian Open, the Chilean won against Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-1).
Martinez, ranked No 76, beat Chilean Cristian Garin (7-6, 6-4) in the first round of the Brazilian Open.
