Jarry takes out third-seeded Musetti at Rio
Nicolas Jarry won against Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday night and will face Spaniard Pedro Martinez in the next round
Lorenzo Musetti’s stay at the Rio Open will be short-lived. The Italian fell to Chilean qualifier Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 6-1 on Monday in first-round action at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night.
Musetti gave a flat performance in his Rio debut, surrendering four breaks of serve from five opportunities and never earning a break point against the Chilean. The contest lasted only 73 minutes as Jarry ran away with it in second set that saw Musetti win only 11 of 28 points on serve.
Musetti falls to 5-4 on the season, Jarry improves to 3-1.
Jarry, a 2018 Rio semi-finalist who is ranked No 139, will face Spaniard Pedro Martinez next.
