Queen’s: Wawrinka upsets Tiafoe to reach second round

Swiss Stan Wawrinka edged out American Frances Tiafoe 7-6 (2), 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5) to advance to the second round of the Queen’s at Queen’s Club in London on Tuesday evening.

Wawrinka, ranked No 290, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 6 seed, and American Tommy Paul next.

Wawrinka has a 2-4 record on the tour this year, as he continues to comeback from a nine-month injury lay-off.
