Queen’s Club: Paul beats Korda in semis, faces Musetti in final
Paul can become the top-ranked American on the men’s tour if he wins the title on Sunday
Fifth seed Tommy Paul defeated Sebastian Korda 6-4, 7-6 (2) to reach the final of the cinch Championships at Queen’s Club in London on Saturday.
Paul, ranked No 13, will play Italian Lorenzo Musetti for the title on Sunday. He becomes the first American to reach the final here since 2010 when Sam Querrey and Mardy Fish played against each other in the final.
The American won against Argentinian Sebastian Baez (6-4, 6-4), Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (6-3, 6-4) and Jack Draper (6-3, 5-7, 6-4) earlier in the week. If he wins the title on Sunday, he will move past Taylor Fritz to become the top-ranked American on the ATP Tour.
In the previous rounds of the tournament, Korda, ranked No 23, beat Russian Karen Khachanov (7-5, 7-6 (5)), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 3 seed (6-4, 3-6, 7-5) and Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata (6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4).
