Qatar Open: Popyrin advances to second round
Alexei Popyrin edged out Abdullah Shelbayh 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Monday evening. He’ll play the winner of the match between Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 8 seed, and French qualifier Hugo Grenier in the next round
Australian Alexei Popyrin moved into the second round of the Qatar Open by edging out Jordanian wildcard Abdullah Shelbayh 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Monday evening.
Popyrin, ranked No 46, will play the winner of the match between Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 8 seed, and French qualifier Hugo Grenier next.
