Australian Christopher O’Connell beat German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Tuesday.
O’Connell, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori next.
