Qatar Open: Lehecka loses to Murray in semi-final
Andy Murray edged out Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (6) on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the second seed, in the final
Wildcard Andy Murray reached the final of the Qatar Open by edging out Czech Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (6) at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Friday.
Murray, ranked No 70, will face the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the second seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, Andy Murray defeated Italian Lorenzo Sonego (4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4)), German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed (7-6 (5), 2-6, 7-5) and French qualifier Alexandre Muller (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
Lehecka, ranked No 52, won against Bosnian qualifier Damir Dzumhur (6-3, 7-6 (3)), Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (6-2, 7-6 (2)) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the top seed (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
