Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Qatar Open by beating qualifier Liam Broady 6-4, 6-3 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday evening.
Medvedev, ranked No 8, will play Australian Christopher O’Connell next.
Broady, ranked No 147, edged out Ukrainian qualifier Oleksii Krutykh (6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (2)) in the previous round of the Doha Open.
