Portuguese Open: Cecchinato falls to Kecmanovic in semi-final
Miomir Kecmanovic beat Marco Cecchinato 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Frenchman Quentin Halys in the final
Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, the No 6 seed, won against Italian Marco Cecchinato 6-3, 6-1 to move into the final of the Portuguese Open at Clube de Ténis do Estoril on Saturday afternoon.
Kecmanovic, ranked No 40, will play the winner of the match between Norwegian Casper Ruud, the top seed, and Frenchman Quentin Halys next.
In the previous rounds of the Estoril Open, the Serb defeated Italian Luca Nardi (6-4, 6-1), Austrian Jurij Rodionov (6-0, 6-1) and Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (7-5, 6-2).
Cecchinato, ranked No 96, won against Argentinian Diego Schwartzman, the No 7 seed (6-3, 7-6 (8)), Fabio Fognini (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 3 seed (7-5, 7-6 (5)) earlier in the tournament.
