Paul cruises past Shelton in Dallas Open semi-finals
Tommy Paul avenged a couple of recent losses to Ben Shelton with a straight-set victory in the Dallas semi-finals on Saturday. Paul awaits either Adrian Mannarino over Marcos Giron in the title match.
Second seed Tommy Paul beat No 3 seed Ben Shelton 6-2, 6-4 to reach the final of the Dallas Open at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday evening.
Paul, ranked No 15, will face the winner of the match between American Marcos Giron and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 4 seed, next.
Tommy Paul won against Japanese Taro Daniel (6-3, 6-2) and German Dominik Koepfer, the No 8 seed (7-5, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Shelton, ranked No 16, defeated Michael Mmoh (6-3, 6-3) and edged out Australian Jordan Thompson, the No 7 seed (6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-4).
