Tsitsipas qualifies for ATP Finals after beating Zverev in Paris
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Alexander Zverev 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Thursday afternoon and will play No 16 seed Karen Khachanov in the next round
Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas booked his place in the season-ending ATP Finals for the fifth consecutive year after he beat German Alexander Zverev, the No 10 seed, 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the Accor Arena on Thursday.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 6, will face No 16 seed Karen Khachanov next. The Greek hit 10 aces as he claimed his 50th win of 2023 and secured his spot for Turin, leaving two remaining spots to be filled.
Tsitsipas won against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-3, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Paris-Bercy tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Zverev, ranked No 9, edged out Hungarian qualifier Marton Fucsovics (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) and Frenchman Ugo Humbert (6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5)).
