Paris Masters: Rinderknech advances to second round as Machac retires

French wildcard Arthur Rinderknech advanced to the second round of Paris Masters when Tomas Machac retired on Monday at the Accor Arena.
Rinderknech, ranked No 60, led 6-7 (3), 5-3 when Machac, ranked No 25, pulled out due to discomfort in achilles tendon.
The Frenchman will play the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 12 seed, next.
