Kazakh Alexander Bublik beat American Frances Tiafoe, the No 14 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the second round of Paris Masters at the Accor Arena on Monday.
Bublik, ranked No 33, will play Chilean Nicolas Jarry next.
