Paris Masters: Fritz “devastated” to stop his season by a withdrawal
Daniel Altmaier benefited from the forfeit of Taylor Fritz on Wednesday at the Rolex Pari Masters
German Daniel Altmaier moved into the last 16 of Paris Masters after American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed, withdrew before the match on Wednesday night at the Accor Arena.
Altmaier, ranked No 54, will face the winner of the match between Austrian qualifier Dominic Thiem and Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, next.
“Devastated to have to pull out with so much on the line”, Fritz wrote on X (ex-Twitter). “All I wanted was the chance to fight for my potential Turin spot but after getting scans today on my oblique it’s just not possible for me to play. Time to rehab and hope to be back on court as soon as I can be.”
