Norrie withdraws in Auckland, sending Tabilo through to semis
Alejandro Tabilo benefited from the withdrawal of Cameron Norrie on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 6 seed, and German Daniel Altmaier in the next round
Chilean qualifier Alejandro Tabilo advanced to the semi-finals of the Auckland Open after second seed Cameron Norrie withdrew before the match on Thursday night at the ASB Tennis Arena.
The Brit cited a wrist injury as the reason for his withdrawal in Auckland.
Tabilo, ranked No 82, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 6 seed, and German Daniel Altmaier next.
The Chilean won against Croat Borna Gojo (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (7-5, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Auckland tournament, Norrie, ranked No 19, beat French qualifier Luca Van Assche (6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-1).
