Brazilian Thiago Monteiro advanced to the second round of the Nordea Open by edging out Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at the Båstads tennisstadion in Bastad on Monday afternoon.
Monteiro, ranked No 122, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 5 seed, and Slovak Alex Molcan next.
