Nishioka withdraws in Dallas handing Mannarino quarter-final berth
Yoshihito Nishioka has withdrawn from the Dallas Open due to illness, handing a walkover to Adrian Mannarino who now makes the quarter-finals
Fourth seed Adrian Mannarino is through to the quarter-finals of the Dallas Open in Texas after Yoshihito Nishioka withdrew ahead of their second round clash at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday night.
The Frenchman will face Australian James Duckworth in the quarter-finals, after Duckworth upset No 5 seed Christopher Eubanks earlier in the day.
Nishioka, ranked No 83 in the world, withdrew due to illness. In a translated post on X, the Japanese player explained his withdrawal:
“After the first match, my body was in a lot of pain and I felt a little nauseous after eating, so I took precautions and retired. I was feeling quite tired internally, but since it was a forced race from the Davis Cup, I avoided the risk of injury and further deterioration of my condition. I think I’ll make it to Delray Beach in time, so I’ll try my best again from there!”
