Jason Kubler moved into the semi-finals of the Hall of Fame Open by beating No 8 seed James Duckworth 7-5, 7-6 (3) at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Friday evening.
Kubler, ranked No 102, will face Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 3 seed, next.
The 29-year-old Aussie is set to crack the top-100 next week after a torrid stretch of tennis that has now seen him win 25 of 29 matches across all levels since the start of May. His previous career-high ranking is 91.
Kubler reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon, marking his best Grand Slam performance to date.
A former junior No 1, Kubler entered 2022 with just three ATP-level wins to his name. So far in 2022 he is 7-2.
Jason Kubler won against Jordan Thompson (6-2, 6-3) and edged out Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the top seed (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4)) in the previous rounds of the Hall of Fame Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Duckworth, ranked No 74, won against qualifier Liam Broady (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) and Frenchman Quentin Halys (7-5, 3-6, 6-2).
