Mariano Navone got the best of Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena 6-4, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Rio Open at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night.

The Argentine broke serve five times over the course of one hour and 37 minutes.

Navone, ranked No 46, will play No 5 seed Sebastian Baez next.
