Munich Open: Fritz edges Draper in third set tiebreak to reach semis
The American will meet the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, and Chilean Cristian Garin in the next round
American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, edged out No 6 seed Jack Draper 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1) to advance to the semi-finals of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex on Friday.
Fritz, ranked No 15, will face the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, and Chilean Cristian Garin next.
In the previous round of the tournament, the American defeated Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas (6-3, 6-1).
Draper, ranked No 46, edged out Vit Kopriva (6-1, 5-7, 6-4) and won against German wildcard Rudolf Molleker (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Munich tournament.
