Munich Open: Fritz eases past Garin to reach first clay-court final
Taylor Fritz beat Cristian Garin 6-3, 6-4. He’ll play the winner of the match between Jan-Lennard Struff and Dane Holger Rune in the final
American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, reached the final of the Munich Open by beating Chilean Cristian Garin 6-3, 6-4 at the MTTC Iphitos complex.
Fritz, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 4 seed, and Dane Holger Rune, the second seed, next.
The American defeated Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas (6-3, 6-1) and edged out No 6 seed Jack Draper (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1)) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Garin, ranked No 106, beat German Dominik Koepfer, the No 7 seed (7-6 (3), 6-3), American Alex Michelsen (6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-1) and German Alexander Zverev, the top seed (6-4, 6-4).
