Australian Jordan Thompson reached the second round of the Montreal Masters by defeating an in-form Jack Draper in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). Despite being broken whilst serving for the set, Thompson broke in the very next game and served out the set on the second time of asking. The second set was far more straight forward, with the Australian breaking the Brit’s serve twice, and saved all the break points that he faced on his own serve.
Thompson, ranked No. 30 in the world, will play second seed Alexander Zverev next, who won the event in 2017.
