Montreal Masters: Korda through to last eight as Ruud withdraws with injury
Sebastian Korda benefited from the forfeit of Casper Ruud. He’ll play the winner of the match between Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev in the next round
American Sebastian Korda reached the last eight of the Montreal Masters after Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 6 seed, withdrew before the match at Stade IGA.
Korda, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the match between Dane Holger Rune, the No 13 seed, and German Alexander Zverev, the second seed, next.
The American benefited from the abandonment of Canadian wildcard Vasek Pospisil (2-1) and won against No 9 seed Taylor Fritz (6-4, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous round of the Rogers Cup, Ruud, ranked No 9, defeated Australian lucky loser James Duckworth (6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-3).
