Montreal Masters: Carreno Busta into semi-finals againt Evans
Pablo Carreno Busta won against Jack Draper 7-6 (4), 6-1 on Friday night and will play Daniel Evans in semi-finals
Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta won against qualifier Jack Draper 7-6 (4), 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Montreal Masters at Stade IGA on Friday night.
Carreno Busta, ranked No 23, will face Daniel Evans for a spot in final. The other semi-final is Ruud (4) – Hurkacz (8).
Carreno Busta still didn’t lose a set in his remarkable run. The Spaniard defeated Italian Matteo Berrettini, the No 11 seed (6-3, 6-2), Dane Holger Rune (6-0, 6-3) and Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-4).
That was Draper’s second quarter final on the ATP Tour, the first in a Masters 1000. Ranked No 82, he beat French qualifier Hugo Gaston (6-2, 6-3), Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed (7-5, 7-6 (4)) and eliminated Frenchman Gael Monfils, the No 17 seed (6-2, 0-2 ret.) in the previous rounds.
