Montreal Masters: Borges defeats Kecmanovic for first Masters 1000 win on hardcourts
Borges will face the winner of the match between No 12 seed Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils in the next round
Portugal’s Nuno Borges moved into the second round of the Montreal Masters by edging out Serb Miomir Kecmanovic 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at Stade IGA on Tuesday.
Borges, ranked No 43, will play the winner of the match between No 12 seed Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils next.
This was the Portuguese player’s first Masters 1000 win on hardcourts and he also becomes the first from his country to win a match at the Canadian Masters.
