In-form Sinner crushes Musetti to reach semi-finals in Monte-Carlo
Jannik Sinner defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 on Friday and will face Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, in the next round
Seventh seed Jannik Sinner defeated No 16 seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Friday afternoon.
Sinner, ranked No 8, will face Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, next.
Musetti had beaten world No 1 Novak Djokovic in the previous round but had no answer to the form and consistency of Sinner, who reached his third straight Masters 1000 semi-final.
Ahead of his victory, Sinner benefited from the abandonment of Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (6-0, 3-1) and won against Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 10 seed (3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1).
In addition to his win over Djokovic, Musetti, ranked No 21, beat Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (7-6 (1), 6-0), qualifier Luca Nardi (6-0, 6-0).
