Italian Lorenzo Musetti beat American Taylor Fritz, the No 13 seed, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club.

Musetti, ranked No 24, will play the winner of the match between Arthur Fils and Adrian Mannarino next.
