Chilean Nicolas Jarry edged out Australian qualifier Alexei Popyrin 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday.
Jarry, ranked No 58, will play Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, next.
The Chilean beat Croat Borna Coric, the No 15 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Popyrin, ranked No 94, won against Serb lucky loser Dusan Lajovic (7-6 (1), 6-3).
